I have been using Poshmark since January 2018. To date, I have sold over 110 items and made just over $700.00 USD! This extra cash has been helpful, because I was in college, married, and working only part-time. I have heard many people say that Poshmark has not been a successful experience for them. I would encourage you not to give up on Poshing just yet. Like anything, Poshmark requires patience, practice, and persistence. 10 Tips For Making a Profit on Posh: 

1. You can sell ANYTHING on Posh. Trust me. I have sold some really random things. From deodorant, home decor, blankets, to makeup. I sell brand name items and off-brand items...it all eventually sells. I have noticed that the more things I have in my closet the more diverse traffic I get, which leads to more overall sales. 
   
2. Strive for earning the Posh Ambassador Status. It can take some time but it's worth it. After about 4 months I became an ambassador and now Poshmark sends me new users each day which has to lead to a huge increase in sales. 
3. Focus less on how your listings look and more on sharing listings from others. I don't have amazingly modeled photography or a fancy mannequin. While I do think those things can be very helpful for success what I have found to be more helpful is sharing as many listings as possible. When you share someone's listing they typically share some of your's back and the next thing you know your closet is all over the "Posh Market." 
4. Devote 30 minutes a week to sharing listings! Sharing your listings and others is KEY.
• My tip... devote your 30 minutes on a Thursday or Friday evening or Saturday morning. Most pay-days are usually Thursday or Fridays and people are more willing to buy on these days! 
5. Be patient. I have had items sit in my Posh Closet for as little as 30 minutes to as long as 1 year. 
6. Ask your mom, dad, significant other, and even your grandma for clothes. I have probably sold more of my Mom's things than my own (she and I used our Posh earnings as petty cash while we were in NYC last year). 
7. Posh has you ship via USPS. So get free boxes and envelopes from The United States Postal Service various locations. In-store you can grab as many as you want for free. Online they will ship items in bundles of 10 for free. I use these Tyvek Envelopes!
8. As soon as someone likes one of your listings make them a personal offer. This is super easy to do and you can even offer a shipping discount. I find that offering $1.50 off shipping and discounting the item by at least 15% gets a potential buyer very interested. They will usually comment asking for more details, counter-offer, or accept. So don't just leave your likers hanging... sell to them! 

• My tip... price drop your items often. All your likers will receive an email with the new price. This refreshes their minds of the potential item they loved.
9. Add free incentives. At the end of 2018, I had a ton of unused beauty samples that I didn't know what to do with. I started offering them as purchase incentives and my sales went crazy. As soon as someone would like my listing I would comment on the item and tag them stating that I was "Offering FREE beauty samples with every purchase from my closet this week!"
10. Let people know you ship your items fast! Tell people you can ship out later that day, or first thing the next morning (if you genuinely can). This adds a sense of urgency and tangibility to a potential purchase.

There's no such thing as a free lunch? There is for me, and There Could Be For You

All my life I have been extremely frugal (some may even say cheap) but over the past 4 years I have grown to really love the hunt and thrill of a good deal. It's very empowering knowing you got the very best deal and saved your hard earned money.

From retail stores, groceries, and even travel, I am always seeking the absolute BEST deal I can find. I am proud to say that in 2018 I didn't purchase one non-necessary item at full price. And I didn't just get things on sale... I got a lot of things for FREE. So all my clothes, shoes, bags, home goods, accessories, and everything that wasn't an absolute must I got basically for FREE or for very cheap.

So how do I do it? I get asked this question a lot from close friends and family who know my frugal habits all too well. On this blog, I will share my tips and tricks, some of which are simple and insanely easy and others a little more crafty and complex. If this sort of thing interest you (which...why wouldn't it? Who doesn't love free things and savings?) I would encourage you to stay in tune with the blog posts to come.

How to Get the Most Cash from Plato's Closet

Everyone I know either loves Plato's Closet or hates it. Many are scarred from their low-ball cash offers on their items, and yes, while Plato's Closet doesn't pay top dollar, there are still many ways to maximize your cash earnings there.

Selling at Plato's Closet is extremely easy. Which is why you're not going to get 75% of what you initially paid. Realistically, you'll get between 20%-35%. It's the convenience of Plato's Closet that makes it less lucrative than selling your clothes other ways. But, that's OKAY because here are a few ways to make the most out of Plato's Closet:

1. Go through your closet once every 3 to 4 months. Get rid of things you are done with, don't fit in, or won't wear again. 
2. Plato's Closet will ONLY take undamaged items (that means free of stains, pilling, etc.), trendy items, brand name items, and youthful items. Don't add items that don't fit these categories. (For women's style clothes, business attire, and children items see below) 
3. Keep your future Plato's Closet stash stored in bags in the trunk of your car or in your closet. 
4. Sell to Plato's Closet every 3 to 4 months with the SAME inventory (plus the new items you have added over time). Plato's closet will always purchase at least one thing from you. Items that didn't sell at one point during the year will eventually sell. 
• You will notice if you bring in jeans towards the start of summer they may not take them (because it's out of season) but just keep them in your inventory for the fall! 

My tip... Plato's Closet is always in the need for men's clothes so ask your dad, brother, husband, or boyfriend for their clothes! 

It's that easy! So, sure, Plato's may only give you $20-$30 every time you go. But if you go 4 times a year you're about $100 richer than you were!

If you have clothes that Plato's Closet doesn't accept (see #2 above), take them to its sister stores: Style Encore and/or Once Upon a Child.

My tip... If you have "like new" (or "new") BRAND NAME items, I suggest you save them for Poshmark because you will be able to set your own price and make more cash. 

I use the same inventory for Poshmark and Plato's Closet. Here's what I do:

1. I list all my items on Poshmark.
2. If an item sells on Poshmark - I mail it and it's out of my inventory.
3. Every 4 months I take all of my inventory (minus some exceptional items) to Plato's and put my Poshmark closet on a "Vacation Hold" (that just means people can't buy anything). 
4. After Plato's Closet purchases what they want I delete the items on Poshmark.

P.S. Don't be afraid to decline Plato's Closet's offer on your items. They can't force you to accept. So if you feel you deserve more or would rather just give the items away you can totally do that too! :)
